Description of Mammut Lucido TR1 Headlamp:
|
Mammut designed the TR1 Headlamp to be your first choice for hiking, running, and other short-range applications. The four Led bulbs give you a 20-meter light range for after-dark camp chores, and the dimming switch gives you both bright- and low-light options. And with 60 hours of burn time, you won’t need to bring extra batteries on your weekend backpacking trip or multi-pitch climb.

| Small, simple, optional lantern attachment. 06-22-10 |

| Great light, focused circular beam.
Of course, most headlamps seem great when they're loaded with fresh batteries- but this one lasts much longer... and as I've been living out of a tent for 1.5 years, I would know!
A cool feature, you can also get a translucent shell (with reflective metallic cone inside) that turns this into a tent-friendly lantern. A cool feature, this makes it just as bright as the BD Apollo lanterns- with little extra equipment.
The only thing I'm still getting used to: if you turn it on with the lamp facing down, it automatically goes into strobe mode. Annoying if you're trying to cook, but super handy if you're trying to P A R T Y.

| Great Light...for Some Applications 05-19-10 |

| Like this light - bright, lightweight, good battery life, uber-simple operation. Only caveat is that the beam is a perfectly round spotlight with no ambient light outside of the circular beam. Not great for tasks where you're really close to the area being illuminated as the beam is really small up close. The farther you get from the area being illuminated the better. Good for camping, backpacking, and outdoor activities but not great for caving through tight passages or using as a work light for up close illumination as the spotlight beam is to small in tight quarters. Great light for the right jobs but not a perfect all-around headlamp. |

| Great hands-free light 05-05-10 |

| For me, some gear doesn't need to go above and beyond. I picked this headlamp up on SAC at a great price and have enjoyed it. Lightweight enough to wear it almost indefinitely without bother. The light has only two settings I care about- bright and brighter. Simple button placement, depress it and go. The swiveling tilt (horizontal axis) of the light is actually handy. My only complaint is that it is possible that it might fall off during a fall or when pushing through some thick bush etc. Though this isn't really a manufacturing flaw or similar, I haven't thought of a way to better secure it to my head. It's just that admittedly I've got more that obnoxious army mentality of securing everything to your person by way of parachute cord. But whatever, maybe losing the headlamp isn't such a big deal since it's likely be shining brightly in the darkness... and therefore hard to lose if it ever did manage to come off your head. |
