Description of Backcountry Access Alpine Trekker Crampon:
The Alpine Trekker Ski Crampon gives you a little more tenacity on icy slopes compared to hiking with skins alone. When you run into slippery surfaces, this crampon takes over. The Alpine Trekker Crampon mounts beneath the toepiece of the Alpine Trekker touring adapter, for maximum stability and less bulk than top-mounted crampons. This crampon penetrates hard snow when weighted and is withdrawn when un-weighted. *Sold in pairs
Bottom Line: When traversing icy faces, the Alpine Trekker Ski Crampon will keep your skis (and you) attached to the mountain.

Naxo Crampon is ok   06-02-06

It worked okay, but it wasn't easy to put on and off when it got cold. Once it released and pushed back to the end of the binding which rendered it useless. And of course, the most important issue, on the highest climbing setting only the first point hit the ground. The ski crampon did make a difference while climbing, and I believe I made it up things which would have otherwise required a boot pack. You'll have to decide what it's worth to you.

Crampons work great, attachment needs improvement.   03-29-07

The Naxo ski crampons enabled me to skin up nearly all the way to the top of the Breithorn in Switzerland. Skiers without crampons needed to leave their skis at a lower elevation. The crampons are lightweight and seem pretty durable. They easily cut into hardpack and give good bite on moderately hard ice. The main drawback is that you need to take your ski off to attach it. Silvretta crampons can be attached while the boot is still in the binding, which is convenient when you are on the steeper slopes.

...STILL NOT WIDE ENOUGH   02-11-06
ON A MISSION (1): rank
The crampon is a good idea, but it's just not wide enough for the width of skis coming out in years to come. I purchased the fastest crampon (105mm) and attempted to fit them to a Volkl Sanouk. I had to do some serious bending to alter the crampon and make it fit around a Sanouk (112mm under foot). I don't recommend bending the crampons out any further because they're bit in the snow will be slightly less effective. Other than that, the crampons do their job, except when climbing in the steepest position, only the front teeth bite the snow.
